The Importance of Filtered Water

In this post, I will talk about the importance of installing filters in either whole house form, or locally.
By locally installing filters, I mean shower head filters in addition to filters under your kitchen sink and maybe in one or two bathrooms for drinking water. It is surprisingly inexpensive to install water filters in your house. You will need to contact a plumber or filter specialist like Colorado Water Wizards Inc. out of Boulder, CO.
We have him come out once a year to change all our filters. It cost us $526.75 last year, but that included changing the filters on two shower heads, three drinking water filters, one at the kitchen sink and two in different bathrooms. Also a UV lamp at the drinking water filter at the kitchen sink to kill bacteria, so we can use that water for nasal rinsing.
We also have a large filter under the kitchen sink for the cold water side of the large faucet, to fill up soup pots and other cooking uses. We also had him clean and flush all these filter systems. I would say we spend that much once every five years. Most years, the charge is around $250.00 or max $300.00 for all those filters. This enables us to never have to buy filtered water at the grocery store. We also never buy bottled water when we are out and about.
Instead we use stainless steel or glass water bottles that we fill up at the kitchen sink. The water tastes better than any bottled water we have tried, and it costs $250.00 or $300.00 for a full year supply for drinking, bathing, and cooking. It removes all the nasty chemicals that the city adds to the water.
One of the side affects of filtered shower heads is much healthier hair and skin. Another side affect is that any coffee or tea you brew with the filtered water has a far superior flavor, which is very important if you have a serious tea or coffee hobby.
If you have an espresso machine, Keurig, or other coffee maker, you will have much less likelihood of problems due to mineral and chemical buildup in your machine/s. Your appliances will have a much longer lifespan. An equivalent one year supply of bottled water costs around $1,038.00. Also, that does not include the cost of water for bathing or cooking, it is just drinking water.
Many times, bottled water has many of the same contaminants as municipal water, whereas you can count on the quality of your drinking water if you have a high quality filter, about 0.5 microns, in your house for drinking water.
This becomes critical if you have allergies or asthma, or any type of immune or autoimmune disease. If you want to achieve optimal improvement in your symptoms, you are going to need to address environmental toxins to the best of your ability.
One of the first major steps you can take to do this is to install high quality water filters in your home for drinking, cooking, and bathing. I promise you won't regret it! You will probably be amazed at the improvement in your quality of life.
