4 Stars

The writing and editing of the ARC version of the manuscript was clean, with not typos that I found and well constructed sentences. The world building of the farm and it's plants and wildlife, in addition to the local culture, was very vivid considering the length of the novel. The characterization was deft, with both the hero and heroine being sympathetic individuals with strengths and weaknesses. The development of the romantic relationship was sweet and organic. I would rate the heat level of this novel at about two to three chili peppers. The plot and pacing were tight and exciting, meaning that I read this novel in one sitting. There was low angst and high stakes in this romance, which is one of my preferred narrative structures for a romance novel. This novel used the Fated Mates trope, and the Partner in Trouble trope. The world building, plot, and pacing were all four stars. The characterization and development of the romantic relationship were also four stars. I therefore gave this novel a combined rating of four stars. This novel ended on a Happy Ever After ending instead of a cliffhanger, so that was a big plus. I recommend this novel to readers who enjoy vivid world building and exciting, high stakes plots in their sci-fi romances. I look forward to reading the next novel in this series when it releases. I do not think I will buy myself a keeper copy of this novel because of the short length, though I did enjoy it quite a bit.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
