4 Stars

The writing and editing of the ARC version of the manuscript was good, with no typos that I caught and well constructed sentences. The world building was competent if not especially vivid. The characterization was good, with hero and heroine both being sympathetic individuals. The development of the romantic relationship was natural and organic. I found it sweet and heartfelt. The plot and pacing were tight and quick, meaning I read this novel in one sitting. There was low angst and very high stakes in this novel, which I tend to prefer in my romance novels. This novel used the Fated Mates trope and the Child in Danger trope. The world building was three stars. The plot and pacing were four stars. The characterization and development of the romantic relationship were also four stars. I therefore gave this novel a combined rating of four stars. This novel had a Happy Ever After ending instead of a cliffhanger ending, so that was a big plus. I recommend this novel to readers who enjoy sci-fi romances with a sweet small town feel. I look forward to reading the next book in this series when it releases, though I do not think I will be buying myself a keeper copy of this romance.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
