The writing and editing of the ARC version of the manuscript was super clean, with no typos that I found and pretty sentence structure. The world building was excellent, with the Cascades territory and allusions to Beaty and the Beast coming to vivid life. The characterization was quite good, with both hero and heroine being complex, sympathetic individuals with strengths and weaknesses. The development of the romantic relationship was natural and organic, with ups and downs. The plot and pacing were tight and exciting, meaning I read this novel in one sitting. There was a medium amount of well justified angst in this novel and high stakes, which tends to be one of my preferred narrative structures for a romance novel. There was the Older Man and Younger Woman trope, and this was a re-telling of Beaty and the Beast. The world building, plot, and pacing were all five stars. The characterization and development of the romantic relationship were also five stars. I therefore gave this novel a combined rating of five stars. This novel ended on a Happy Ever After ending instead of a cliffhanger ending, so that was a big plus. I recommend this novel to readers who enjoy well written paranormal romances and fairy tale re-tellings. I look forward to reading the next novel this author writes. I will buy myself a keeper copy of this novel.
