The writing and editing of the ARC version of the manuscript was well done, with no typos that I caught and sentence structure that was alright. The main problem with the manuscript was the Point of View head-hopping. It was quite jarring. I am not used to that style in a modern romance novel. The world building was vivid. The characterization was pretty good for the heroine and less well done for the hero. The development of the romantic relationship was sweet and heartfelt. The plot and pacing were tight and exciting, meaning I read this novel in one sitting. I would have enjoyed this novel a lot more if the villain nobles had been executed for their crimes, I will admit. That part of the novel was quite unsatisfying. There was a medium amount of well justified angst on the part of the heroine, and very high stakes, which I enjoyed. This novel used the Partner in Trouble trope. The world building, plot and pacing were all four stars. The development of the romantic relationship and characterization were also four stars. I therefore gave this novel a combined score of four stars. This novel ended on a Happy Ever After ending instead of a cliffhanger, so that was a big plus. I recommend this novel to readers who like fantasy romances with BDSM elements. I don't think I will read the next novel in this series because of the POV head-hopping. I will not be buying myself a keeper copy of this novel, though I did enjoy it.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
