4 Stars

The writing and editing of this novel was super clean, with no typos that I could detect in the ARC version of the manuscript. The world building of Mars was quite good, with me the reader getting a good mental picture of the landscape of Mars and the town. The characterization was good, with both hero and heroine being vibrant, sympathetic individuals. The development of the romantic relationship between these two was fairly good, though the heroine's attitude that the hero forgot her on purpose did not make any logical sense whatsoever. Thankfully, that got cleared up before she became too annoying with her illogical assumptions. The plot and pacing was very exciting, with me turning the pages so quickly to find out what was going to happen next that the pages were smoking! This novel contained a medium amount of angst and very high stakes, so I was able to enjoy the angst somewhat because of the action and high stakes in this plot. This novel used the Second Chance trope and the Prostitute with a Heart of Gold trope common with many Westerns. The world building, plot and pacing were all four stars. The characterization and development of the romantic relationship was also four stars. The combined score of this novel was therefore four stars. This novel has a Happy Ever After ending instead of a cliffhanger, so that is a big plus to this whole series. I recommend this romance to fans of cyborg romances and the TV show Firefly. I plan to buy myself a keeper copy of this novel, for sure. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
