4 Stars

The writing and editing of this novel was clean, with no typos that I caught in the ARC version of the manuscript. The world building was very good, with me the reader getting a vivid picture of the culture and politics of this Earth Solar System civilization. The characterization was good, with the hero and heroine both being complex individuals with strengths and weaknesses. The development of the romantic relationship was believable and organic. The plot and pacing was tight and exciting, so I read this book in one sitting. There is a medium amount of angst on the part of both hero and heroine and sky high stakes, so I enjoyed this novel. I tend to prefer really high stakes in my romance novels. This novel used the Princess and the Bad Boy trope. The world building, plot, and pacing were all four stars. The characterization and development of the romantic relationship were also four stars. The combined score of this novel is therefore four stars. This novel had a Happy Ever After ending instead of a cliffhanger, so that is a big plus. I recommend this novel to readers who enjoy romances featuring Bad Boys. I do not think I will read the next book in this series or buy myself a keeper copy, because this was the first novel I have read by this author and it is the third or fourth novel in the series, I think.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
