3 Stars

This story had a few editing issues, with some wrong word choices and missing transition words on almost every page. However, the story was still fairly enjoyable. The story had competent world building and somewhat less competent characterization, with both hero and heroine being more caricatures than full-fleshed complex individuals. This story had low angst and fairly high stakes, which tends to be one of my preferred narrative structures in a romance novel. This novel employed the Fated Mates trope and a whiff of the Enemies to Lovers trope. The story ends on a Happy Ever After ending instead of a cliffhanger, so that is a big plus. The world building in this novel for this paranormal world rates four stars, but the characterization of hero and heroine and the development of their romantic relationship rates two stars, for a combined score of three stars. I would recommend this story only to people specifically looking for a paranormal Valentines Day romance.
