This novel was quite entertaining. The heroine was a tough, Alpha firecracker who used her engineering abilities to save the day! The world building in this sci-fi romance was deftly done with a light hand, and the characterization and development of the romantic relationship between the hero and heroine of this novel was top-notch. This heroine is tied with the heroine of The Monarch's Mate as my favorite Miranda Bridges heroine that I have read yet. At first, I hated the hero as much as the heroine did, but through the course of this book, as more was revealed about his character and he fell in love with the heroine despite his best efforts, I fell in love with him just as much as the heroine did. I was so happy that the heroine was able to negotiate the freeing of all the human slaves and breeders in exchange for her tactical ability and weapons design. She used what power she had at the right time to try to do right and correct a great wrong. This second novel in this series redeemed this series for me, after I had been very triggered by the first novel in this series at the alien culture's use of slaves and breeders. I now cannot wait to get my hands on the third book in this series after how much I enjoyed this novel. I will definitely be buying myself a keeper copy of this novel. This novel uses the Mars Needs Women trope and the Fated Mates trope. I recommend this novel to readers who enjoy alien sci-fi romances.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
