The writing and editing of this novel contained a fair number of typos in the ARC version of the manuscript, in addition to some awkwardly worded sentences and wrong word choices for the context of the sentence. The world building was fairly thin, with this alien world not really coming alive for me. The characterization was also thin, with the hero and heroine being more cardboard cutouts than complex individuals with strengths and weaknesses. The development of the romantic relationship was very quick, with me the reader not really seeing the process of these two characters falling in love. The plot and pacing was very standard to the sub-genre, with no surprises or interesting twists or commentary on the plot conventions of the genre to raise or hold my interest. There was low angst and high stakes in this novel, which I typically enjoy but did not especially enjoy in this novel, maybe because of the lack of originality. This novel used the Mars Needs Women trope and the Fated Mate trope. The world building, plot and pacing were all three stars. The characterization and development of the romantic relationship was two stars. I rounded up for the combined score of this novel to three stars. This novel has a Happy Ever After ending instead of a cliffhanger, so that is a plus for a pretty mediocre novel. I do not recommend this novel to other fans of sci-fi romances. I will not be reading the next novel in this series, and I will not be buying myself a keeper copy of this novel.
