4 Stars

The writing and editing of this novel was super clean, with few if any typos that I caught in the ARC version of this manuscript. The world building was vibrant, with me getting a vivid picture of this alien culture, technology, and environment. The characterization was great, with both hero and heroine being vibrant, sympathetic individuals. The development of the romantic relationship happened organically, especially considering that this novel used a variation on the Fated Mates trope. The plot and pacing was exciting, with me rapidly turning pages to find out what was going to happen next! There was low angst and very high stakes in this novel, which is one of my preferred narrative structures for a romance novel. This novel used the Alien Abduction trope and the Fated Mates trope. It also used the Partner in Trouble trope and the Road Trip trope. The plot, pacing, and world building in this novel were all four stars. The characterization and development of the romantic relationship also rated four stars. The combined score of this novel was therefore four stars. This novel had a Happy For Now ending instead of a cliffhanger, so that is a big plus for this novel. I recommend this sci-fi romance to readers who enjoy sci-fi romances that read like adventure novels. I am looking forward to reading the next novel in this series when it comes out.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
