4 Stars

The writing and editing of this novel had occasional typos in the ARC version of the manuscript, but not enough to really detract from the reading experience. Hopefully those will be corrected in the retail version. The world building was minimal. The characterization was fairly well done, with the heroine being a very sympathetic individual and the hero growing on me as the novel progressed. The development of the romantic relationship was all right, though I was a little fuzzy on whether or not this was a Fated Mates situation? The author did not make it super clear, if so. The plot and pacing was quick, though there did not seem to be really high stakes in this novel, which I tend to not prefer in a romance novel. The angst was fairly high, though that was completely justified with the heroine's history of enslavement. This novel used the Enemies to Lovers trope and the Fated Mates trope? Again, I was fuzzy on if this was a Fated Mates situation. The world building was three stars. The plot and pacing were four stars. The characterization was four stars. The development of the romantic relationship was three stars. I rounded up and gave this novel a combined rating of four stars. The ending was a Happy Ever After ending instead of a cliffhanger, which is a big plus. I recommend this novel to readers who enjoy alien sci-fi romances set on ice planets. I think I will read the next book in this series when it releases, though I do not think I will be buying myself a keeper copy of this book.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
