4 Stars

The writing and editing of this novel was fairly clean, with occasional typos in the ARC version that did not detract too much form my ability to enjoy the story. The world building was excellent, as is usual for this author's Aurelian novels. The characterization was competent, with the heroine being deeply sympathetic and the heroes also being people that I was rooting for. The development of the romantic relationship happened fairly naturally and organically, considering how much plot was happening in this novel. The plot and pacing was exciting, with me turning pages so quickly to find out what was going to happen next that they were smoking! There was high angst in this novel on the part of the heroine, but it was perfectly understandable with the trauma she had gone through, and the high stakes in this novel were also quite enjoyable. This novel uses the Fated Mates trope, just like most of the other Aurelian novels. It also contained a bit of the Enemies to Lovers trope, which is one of my favorites, and the Breeder trope found in some sci-fi romance novels. The plot, pacing, and world building all rated four stars in this novel. The characterization and development of the romantic relationship also rated four stars. Therefore, the combined score of this novel is four stars. This novel ends on a Happy Ever After ending instead of a cliffhanger, so that is a major plus to this novel. I recommend this novel to readers who enjoy reverse harem sci-fi romance with BDSM elements. I plan to buy myself a keeper copy of this novel, for sure. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
