5 Stars
This novel was very well written and edited, with few if any typos that I found. The world building was really excellent, with the underground being a vibrant character in itself. The characterization of the hero and heroine was also excellent, with the both of them being distinct, sympathetic people. The development of the romantic relationship between these two was organic and believable, and the plot and pacing were exciting, with me rapidly turning pages because I wanted to know what was going to happen next. This novel had low angst and very high stakes, which is one of my preferred narrative structures for a romance novel. This novel uses the Fated Mates trope. The characterization and development of the romantic relationship rated five stars. The plot, pacing, and world building also rated five stars, for a combined score of five stars. This novel ends on a Happy Ever After ending instead of a cliffhanger, so that is a big plus for this novel. I recommend this novel to readers who enjoy really well written sci-fi romance novels. I bought a keeper copy of this novel for myself, and this author is an auto buy author for me because of her consistently high quality writing and storytelling.
