4 Stars

The writing and editing of this novel was fairly clean, with few typos that I caught in the ARC version of this manuscript. The world building was competent. The characterization was good, with both protagonists being sympathetic individuals. The development of the romantic relationship happened organically. The plot and pacing were very exciting, with me turning the pages rapidly to find out what was going to happen next. *Trigger warning* I need to warn readers that the heroine was subjected to quite heinous abuse at the beginning of this novel. It is not graphic, but it is mentioned. *End Trigger Warning* The plot and pacing was quite exciting, with me turning the pages rapidly to find out what was going to happen next! There is some angst in this novel, which I found appropriate for what the heroine had gone through and her struggles in this novel. There were also very high stakes, which I typically enjoy in romance novels. This book used the Mars Needs Women trope and the Abused Heroine trope. The world building, plot and pacing rated four stars in this novel. The characterization and development of the romantic relationship also rated four stars. The combined score of this novel was therefore four stars. The novel ended on a Happy Ever After ending instead of cliffhanger, so that is a big plus to this series so far. I recommend this novel to readers who love sci-fi romance which employs the Mars Needs Women trope. This is my favorite series I have read by this author so far. I do not plan to buy myself a keeper copy of this novel right now, though I enjoyed it quite a lot! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
