4 Stars

The writing and editing for this novel was fairly clean, with few typos that I found in the ARC version of this manuscript. The world building was well established in previous books in this series, so it faded more to the background in this novel. The characterization was competent, with both hero and heroine being sympathetic, well drawn individuals. The development of the romantic relationship was of the insta-love variety, which I enjoyed in this story. The plot and pacing was exciting, with me turning pages quickly to find out what was going to happen next! There was very low angst and very high stakes in this story, which tends to be one of my preferred narrative structures for a romance novel. This novel used the Fated Mates trope and the Forced Proximity trope. The world building, plot, and pacing all rated four stars. The characterization and the development of the romantic relationship also rated four stars. The combined score of this novel was therefore four stars. This novel ended on a Happy Ever After ending instead of a cliffhanger, so that is a big plus for this whole series so far. I recommend this story to fans of sci-fi romance with alien heroes which read like adventure novels. I plan to buy myself a keeper copy of this novel, I think.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
