The writing and editing of the ARC version of the manuscript was clean, with no typos that I found. The world building was competent, with these alien species and cultures coming to vivid life and the Seelie prison dimension being vividly described. The characterization was good, with hero and heroine being complex individuals with strengths and weaknesses. The development of the romantic relationship was natural and organic, and these two characters spent a good portion of this novel in close proximity developing their relationship, which was a massive improvement on the first novel in this series, which is the only other book in this series I had read previously. The plot and pacing was tight and exciting, meaning I read this novel in one sitting. There was low angst and very high stakes in this romance, which tends to be one of my preferred narrative structures for a novel. This novel used the Fated Mates trope and the Partner in Trouble trope. The world building, plot, and pacing were all four stars in this novel. The characterization and development of the romantic relationship were also four stars. I therefore gave this novel a combined rating of four stars. This novel ends on a Happy Ever After ending instead of a cliffhanger, so that was a big plus. I recommend this novel to fans of paranormal romances with high stakes and fight scenes. I look forward to reading the next novel in this series. I must admit that after reading the first novel in this series I was uninterested in reading any more novels in this series, but this novel has re-kindled my interest in this series. I do not plan to buy myself a keeper copy of this novel at this time, but I may change my mind in future.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
