This novel was cleanly written and edited, with few typos that I caught in the ARC version of this manuscript. The characterization was competent, with both hero and heroine being sympathetic individuals. The development of the romantic relationship was fairly natural and organic, and this novel uses my favorite hero type, of a man who sees the heroine and immediately goes, "MINE!" This hero is willing to commit. The plot and pacing is exciting, making me turn the pages quickly to find out what was going to happen next. The fact that all the people in power turned against human women so dramatically, considering that their species is on the verge of extinction and human women are the solution, seemed a little unbelievable. There is very little angst in this novel and very high stakes, which tends to be one of my preferred narrative structures for a romance novel. This novel uses the Love at First Sight trope, the Mars Needs Women trope, and the Human Trafficking trope so popular in sci-fi romance novels. The characterization and development of the romantic relationship rated four stars. The plot and pacing rated four stars. The world building rated three stars. Therefore, the combined score of this novel is four stars. This novel ends on a Happy Ever After ending instead of a cliffhanger, so that is a big plus for this novel. I recommend this sci-fi romance to readers who enjoy the Mars Needs Women trope. I will not be buying myself a keeper copy of this novel, though I enjoyed it. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
