4 Stars

The writing and editing was clean in the ARC version of this manuscript, with only occasional typos. The world building was okay. The characterization was good, with the heroine and two heroes being sympathetic individuals. The development of the romantic relationship between the heroine and the sun god was sweet, but I felt like Ragnar spent most of the novel being intensely antagonistic toward the heroine, and I did not fully buy into those two being in love by the end of the novel. The plot and pacing was exciting, making me turn the pages rapidly to find out what was going to happen next. There was surprisingly little angst on the heroine's part, and high stakes throughout large sections of this novel. This novel used the Enemies to Lovers trope and a hint of the Daddy trope. The world building was three stars. The plot and pacing was four stars. The characterization was four stars and the development of the romantic relationship was three stars. I rounded up and gave this story a combined score of four stars. This story has a Happy Ever After ending instead of a cliffhanger, so that is a big plus to this story. I recommend this story to readers who enjoy speculative fiction BDSM romance novels. I definitely look forward to reading the next book in the series when it is available. I don't think I will be buying myself a keeper copy, however.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
