The writing and editing of this novel was clean, with no typos that I found in the ARC version of this manuscript and quite pretty sentences. The world building was a vibrant character in itself, with the Empire and the viral program coming to vivid life. The characterization was excellent, with both the hero and heroine being charismatic, gripping characters. The spicy scenes made my Kindle smoke, and the kink elements were very well done and hot. The development of the romantic relationship was natural and organic, and I bought into these two character's HEA at the end, which does not always happen for me with dark romance. The plot and pacing were quite exciting, with me rapidly turning pages to find out what was going to happen next! There was medium angst in this novel which was fully justified by the plot and heroine's history, and very high stakes that I always prefer in my romance novels, what with the Uncorrupted invasion. This novel used the Daddy trope, and the Mate Bond trope common to omegeverse romances. The world building, plot, and pacing all rated five stars. The characterization and development of the romantic relationship also rated five stars. This novel ends on a Happy Ever After ending that I fully bought into instead of a cliffhanger, so that is a big plus, especially considering a lot of m/f omegaverse novels are trilogies with cliffhanger endings, which is one big drawback of the sub-genre. I recommend this novel to fans of dark sci-fi or m/f omegaverse romances. I plan to buy myself a keeper copy of this novel, for sure.
