This novel was very well written and edited, with no typos that I caught in the ARC version of this manuscript. The characterization of this novel was fairly well done, with the hero and heroine of this novel being fairly sympathetic characters. The heroine was way too much of a shrinking doormat for my taste. Definitely not an empowered submissive, so that detracted from my enjoyment of the novel quite a bit. The development of the romantic relationship between these two was natural and organic, with this novel being long enough to really build the romantic relationship organically. The plot and pacing of this novel was fairly exciting, but I was definitely not frantically turning the pages wanting to know what was going to happen next. The angst in this novel was startlingly low on the heroine's part, considering she had literally never left her house in her whole life before the hero kidnaps her. The stakes were somewhat high, with the threat of the Martins wanting to murder the heroine and the ramp up to a mob war, though the stakes didn't FEEL especially high in this novel. Maybe that was a function of the somewhat slow pacing in this novel. This novel uses the Virgin and Bad Man trope, and the Marriage of Convenience trope. The development of the romantic relationship rated four stars, the plot and pacing rated three stars, and the doormat heroine rated two stars, for a combined score of three stars. This novel had a Happy Ever After ending instead of a cliffhanger, so that is a big plus for this novel. I only recommend this BDSM novel to readers who don't mind doormat submissives. I will not be buying a keeper copy of this novel for myself.
