I am reviewing the story "Hunted"

by Eva Priest. The writing and editing of this story was okay, with occasional typos. I read the continuation and end of this story through the website link at the end of Chapter Five, so I am reviewing the whole manuscript here. The world building could be better. I felt that the omegaverse elements were kind of thrown in there without being fully developed and integrated well into the base world building, which I found disappointing. The characterization was a little flat, with hero and heroine being sympathetic but not especially nuanced. The development of the romantic relationship was of the insta-love variety, and I did not really fall in love alongside the characters. The plot and pacing was tight and exciting. There was little angst and high stakes, which tends to be one of my preferred narrative structures for a romance novel. This novel used the Fated Mates trope and the Kidnapped by Aliens trope. The world building was two stars. The plot and pacing were four stars. The characterization and development of the romantic relationship were three stars. I therefore gave this story a combined rating of three stars. This portion of this novel included in the anthology ends on a cliffhanger, but the link takes you to the author's website where you can download the rest of the story and it actually ends on a Happy Ever After ending instead of a cliffhanger, so that is a plus. I recommend readers wait until the author releases the whole novel on Amazon and read it that way. I am not sure if I will read the next novel in this series because of my disappointment with the world building and integration of the omegaverse elements. I do not plan to buy myself a keeper copy of this anthology.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
