3 Stars
The writing and editing of this sci-fi romance was fairly clean in the ARC version of the manuscript, with occasional typos. The world building is minimal. The characterization is fairly good, with the heroine being a sympathetic individual. The best part of this novel is the humor! The development of the romantic relationship is very quick, and I did not really feel like I witnessed these two characters falling in love. The plot and pacing is quick and exciting. There was little angst and high stakes in this novel, which is one of my preferred narrative structures for a romance novel. This novel used the Mating Bond trope and the Prison Break trope. The world building was two stars. The plot and pacing was four stars. The characterization and development of the romantic relationship was three stars. I gave this novel a combined score of three stars. This novel ended on a Happy Ever After ending instead of a cliffhanger, so that is a big plus. I do not think I will read the next novel in this series when it releases, and I will not be buying myself a keeper copy of this novel.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
