4 Stars
The writing and editing was clean in the ARC version of the manuscript, with few if any typos and well constructed sentences. The world building was good, with the derelict space station coming to vivid life. The characterization was good, with both hero and heroine being nuanced, sympathetic individuals. The development of the romantic relationship was great, with the use of combat sparring serving as foreplay for these two people being a fun touch! The plot and pacing was tight and well drawn, with me speeding through reading this novel wanting to find out what was next in store for these two. There was a medium amount of well justified angst on the part of the hero, and sky high stakes throughout, which I really enjoyed. This novel used the Fated Mates trope, the Enemies to Lovers trope, and the Cyborg Hero trope. The world building, plot, and pacing were all four stars in this novel. The characterization and development of the romantic relationship were also four stars. I therefore gave this novel a solid four stars for the combined score. This novel ends on a Happy For Now ending with overarching plot threads left unresolved instead of a cliffhanger, so that is a big plus. I look forward to reading the next book in this series when it releases, because I thoroughly enjoyed the first two novels in this series. I think I may buy myself a keeper copy of this novel, because I had such fun reading it.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
