5 Stars
The writing and editing of the ARC version of the manuscript was clean, with no typos that I found and pretty sentence structure. The world building was excellent, with the culture and values of the Solo pilots coming to vivid life. The characterization was excellent, with both hero and heroine being sympathetic, complex individuals with strengths and weaknesses. The development of the romantic relationship was natural, organic, and very sweet. The plot and pacing was tight and exciting, meaning I read it in one sitting. There was a medium amount of well justified angst in this novel and high stakes, which tends to be one of my preferred narrative structures for a romance novel. There was the Forbidden Lovers trope, Epistolary Relationship trope, and the Fated Mates trope in this romance novel. The world building, plot, and pacing were all five stars in this novel. The characterization and development of the romantic relationship were also five stars in this novel. I therefore gave this novel a combined rating of five stars. I also really appreciated that neither of them wanted to have children. I love a baby epilogue, but I also love seeing childless couples represented in romance. I recommend this romance to readers who enjoy sci-fi romances with excellent world building and heroines who are really good at their jobs. I cannot wait to read the next novel in this series when it releases. I plan to buy myself a keeper copy of this novel.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
