This novel was cleanly written and edited, with few typos that I caught that did not at all detract from my enjoyment of this story. However, it is unfortunate that I despise the way this story was formatted. The writing, world building, and characterization was all amazing, especially considering the incredibly short word length. However, the length of the story combined with the fact that it ends on a total cliffhanger where the romantic relationship and plot was introduced but everything was left completely unresolved by the end of this story, massively negatively impacted my ability to enjoy this novel. I love this author's writing, but I have reluctantly come to the conclusion that I need to not read any of the stories she releases under her E.M. Reagan name because they all seem to be very short installments which all end on cliffhangers with large gaps between release dates. I love her novels under the name Erin Reagan, which are all full-length novels which end on a HFN or HEA. If she decides to release her E.M. Reagan serial installments in complete novel format once all the serial installments have been out for a while, I would be happy to buy her complete novels under her E.M. Reagan name also. However, the serial format with cliffhanger endings is so unpleasant to read that it seems to destroy my enjoyment of the excellent writing, characterization, and world building. I recommend this story to people who enjoy serial installments with cliffhanger endings. Unfortunately, I just seem to be a reader who is unable to enjoy such stories, no matter how well written they are.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
