4 Stars

The writing and editing of the ARC version of this manuscript was clean, with few typos that I caught. The world building was very interesting and and the cultural details were well described. I thought the inclusion of the short pamphlet on alien puberty that the heroine read was cute and clever. The characterization was pretty good, with both hero and heroine being sympathetic individuals. The development of the romantic relationship was natural and organic, and I appreciated how much consent was embedded in the alien culture. The plot and pacing was exciting and moved very quickly. This novel had low angst and very high stakes, which is one of my preferred narrative structures for a romance novel. This novel used the Fated Mates trope and the Enemies to Lovers trope. The world building, plot, and pacing were all four stars. The characterization and development of the romantic relationship were also four stars. Therefore, the combined rating of this novel was four stars. This novel ended on a Happy For Now ending with overarching plot elements left unresolved instead of a cliffhanger ending, so that was a big plus. I recommend this novel to fans of sci-fi romances with BDSM or omegaverse elements. I really look forward to reading the next novel in this series when it comes out. I feel like the author's writing has grown exponentially since I read her debut novel a while back. I am not currently going to buy myself a keeper copy of this novel, but if the second novel is as good as the first I might end up buying the whole series.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
