3 Stars

This novel was well written and edited, with few typos that I caught in the ARC version of this manuscript. The world building of this Colorado town was fairly vibrant. The characterization was competent, with both the hero and heroine being sympathetic individuals. The development of the romantic relationship happened pretty naturally and organically. The plot and pacing was a little slow for my taste, but that could have been a function of the fairly low stakes in this novel. There was a fairly low amount of angst in this novel, but the stakes did not feel particularly high, either. I tend to not enjoy novels with low stakes, but I enjoyed this one a fair amount. This novel uses the Second Chance trope and the Fated Mates trope. The world building, plot and pacing of this novel rated three stars. The characterization and development of the romantic relationship also rated three stars. Therefore, the combined score of this novel was three stars. This novel ends on a Happy Ever After ending instead of a cliffhanger, so that is a plus to this paranormal romance. I recommend this paranormal to readers who enjoy dragon-shifter heroes in their romance novels. I do not plan to buy myself a keeper copy of this novel, though I did enjoy it. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
