3 Stars

The writing and editing of the ARC version of the manuscript was a little rough, with a fair number of typos and awkwardly constructed sentences. The world building was minimal. The characterization was pretty thin. The development of the romantic relationship was very quick, and I was not really emotionally invested in these two characters or their relationship. The plot and pacing was awkward, with way too many convenient obstacles. There was low angst and high stakes in this novel, which tends to be one of my preferred narrative structures for a romance novel. This novel used the Fated Mates trope and the Insta-Love trope. The world building, plot, and pacing were all three stars. The characterization was three stars, and the development of the romantic relationship was two stars, because I did not really get to see these characters go through the process of falling in love. I therefore gave this novel a combined rating of three stars. This novel had a Happy Ever After ending instead of a cliffhanger, so that was a plus. I do not really recommend this novel to fans of sci-fi romance, because there are much better written ones available. I do not want to read the next novel in this series when it releases, and I will not be buying myself a keeper copy of this novel.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
