The writing and editing was a little rough, with multiple typos. Hopefully that will be fixed in the retail version. The world building was okay, if not especially vivid. I would have liked more descriptions of the way this society is structured. The characterization was a little rough, with the heroine especially being sympathetic if not especially nuanced. I am not sure that the hero had understandable motives for kidnapping and imprisoning the heroine. It did not seem to really jibe with his desire to defund and get rid of the omega prisons. The development of the romantic relationship was enjoyable, though I would have enjoyed it more if the characterization had been better for the hero. The plot and pacing was tight and exciting, meaning I read this novel in one sitting. There was high angst, but also very high stakes which meant I was still able to enjoy the story. This novel used the Kidnapping trope and the Mating Bond trope. The world building was three stars. The characterization and development of the romantic relationship was three stars. The plot and pacing were four stars. I rounded down and gave this novel a combined rating of three stars, though it is more accurately three and a half stars, in my opinion. I did enjoy reading this novel. This novel had a Happy Ever After ending instead of a cliffhanger, so that was a big plus. I recommend this novel to readers who enjoy m/f omegaverse which does not end on a cliffhanger. I look forward to reading the next book in this series when it releases, though I am not buying myself a keeper copy of this novel, due to a little rough writing.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
