4 Stars

This novel was cleanly written and edited, with only occasional typos that I found in the ARC version of this manuscript. The world building is competent. The characterization was also competent, with the hero and heroine both being sympathetic individuals. The development of the romantic relationship happened organically over the course of the novel. The plot and pacing was exciting, with me turning pages quickly to find out what was going to happen next. There was a low-medium amount of angst in this novel and very high stakes, which tends to be one of my preferred narrative structures for a romance novel. This novel used the Human Trafficking trope popular in sci-fi romances and the Mating bond trope common to omegaverse romances. It also used Forced Proximity, because the hero and heroine were in close confines for part of the novel on the hero's space ship. The world building, plot, and pacing all rated four stars for me. The characterization and development of the romantic relationship also rated four stars. The combined score of this novel was therefore four stars. The Alpha hero in this novel is actually heroic and not abusive, so that is a big plus. This novel ends on a Happy Ever After ending instead of a cliffhanger, so that is a big plus in favor of this novel. Especially considering a large portion of m/f omegaverse romances are trilogies with cliffhanger endings, which is a big drawback for the sub-genre. I recommend this novel and series to fans of the author's other work and fans of m/f omegaverse romances. I plan to buy myself a keeper copy of this novel.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
