4 Stars

The writing and editing of this novel was clean, with no typos that I saw in the ARC version of this manuscript. The world building in this novel was less extensive than in most other books in the Interstellar Brides universe because it takes place entirely on a vaguely contemporary Earth in the United States. The characterization of the hero and heroine was competent, with both of them being sympathetic individuals. The heroine's lack of self-worth was a little hard to read for me. I felt like she really needed therapy to learn to accept, love, and value herself before she would be able to have a truly healthy romantic relationship. The development of the romantic relationship was of the insta-love variety on the part of the hero, which I frequently enjoy. The plot and pacing were exciting, with me turning the pages so quickly to find out what was going to happen next that they were smoking! This novel had a medium amount of angst on the heroine's part, with her poor self image and self worth, but it also had very high stakes with the drug dealer villain. He came to a satisfying end, but it was really disappointing that the hero was the one to kill him instead of the heroine. I would have found the heroine getting her own justice way more satisfying. This novel really felt like it used the Fated Mates trope, and the use of the Bachelor TV show homage was super fun! The world building, plot, and pacing was four stars. The development of the romantic relationship and characterization were also four stars. The combined score of this novel was therefore four stars. This novel ends on a Happy Ever After ending instead of a cliffhanger, so that is a big plus to this novel. I recommend this story to any fans of the long-running Interstellar Brides universe and alien romances with insta-love on the hero's part. I plan to buy myself a keeper copy of this novel, I think. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
