4 Stars

This story was cleanly written and edited, with few typos that I caught in the ARC version of this manuscript. This novella was not a complete romance, but rather was a slice of life story of several different couples who previously had their romances written earlier in the series. The world building in this story was minimal. The characterization was okay, considering it was a slice of life story. There was no central romance in this story. The plot and pacing was exciting, though the author started what could become a major plot point of upcoming novels in this series without tying it up at all. There was some angst in this story, as some of the couples encountered marital bumps. The stakes in this story were fairly low, which tends not to be my favorite narrative structure for a romance novel. I recognized no common romance novel tropes in this story, as it was not a complete romance. The world building was two stars. The plot and pacing was four stars. The characterization was four stars. I gave this novel a combined score of four stars, even with the terrible world building. This story ends on a bit of a cliffhanger, because of dangling plot threads that went unresolved. I recommend this story to readers who would enjoy a slice of life story about previous couples in this series. I do not plan to buy myself a keeper copy of this story. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
