This short romance was very well written and edited, with no typos that I caught in the ARC version of the manuscript. The world building of the demon hunters, witch warriors, and vampires populating this paranormal world, and the glimpses of Hell when the demon hunters were fighting off a demon invasion, was very well done even though is was briefly sketched because of the short length. The characterization of the hero and heroine was quite good, with both protagonists being vibrant individuals. The development of the romantic relationship between these two characters was organic, even with the short length, because the story opens with both of them being in love with each other and having a long friendship and lots of history between them. The plot was exciting and the pacing had me read this story in one sitting because I wanted to know what was going to happen next. This story had fairly high angst but also high stakes, so the high angst was not that irritating because the stakes were so high. High stakes with varying angst levels are my favorite narrative structure for romance novels. This novel had the Friends to Lovers trope and the Fated Mates trope. The characterization and development of the romantic relationship in this short romance rated four stars, and the world building, plot and pacing rated four stars. That means this story had a combined score of four stars, in my opinion. This novel ends on a Happy Ever After ending instead of a cliffhanger, so that is a major plus to this story. I recommend this story to readers who enjoy paranormal romances with half-demon heroes. I will not be buying myself a keeper copy of this novel, even though I enjoyed it quite a bit. Too short for me.
