4 Stars

The writing and editing in this novel was super clean, with few typos that I could detect in the ARC version of this manuscript. The world building was fairly minimal but interesting, and the society described by the heroine was fascinating. The characterization was competent, with both hero and heroine being sympathetic individuals. The development of the romantic relationship was natural and organic, considering the short page count of this story. The plot and pacing was very exciting, with me rapidly turning pages to find out what was going to happen next. This story had low angst and high stakes, which tends to be one of my preferred narrative structures for a romance novel. This novel used the Mating Bond trope which is a staple of omegaverse romance. This was the author's first foray into omegaverse romance, though she has written many sci-fi romances. She did a good job for a newcomer to omegaverse, I thought. The world building, plot and pacing were four stars. The development of the romantic relationship and characterization were also four stars. Therefore, the combined score for this novel was four stars. This story ended on a Happy Ever After instead of a cliffhanger, so that is a big plus for this story, since many m/f omegaverse stories are multiple book series which all end on cliffhangers. That is not my favorite. I recommend this story to fans of this author's sci-fi romances and fans of m/f omegaverse romances. I do not plan to buy myself a keeper copy of this novel right now, though I quite enjoyed it and may buy it later if the author turns it into a series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
