5 Stars

This novel was very cleanly written and edited in the ARC version of the manuscript, with no typos that I found and beatifully put together sentences. The world building was vibrant and vivid, with me the reader really feeling the privation of the hero's people. The characterization was excellent, with the reader really getting to see the heroine come into her own and claim her power, and the hero learning valuable lessons about trust along the way. The development of the romantic relationship was sweet and heartfelt, with bumps along the way. The plot and pacing was quick and exciting, and I loved the fact that the hero and heroine ended up being cross-fertile. The angst was medium and well justified, and the stakes were very high, which I tend to prefer in my romance novels. This novel used the Enemies to Lovers trope and the Kidnapping trope. The world building, plot, and pacing were all five stars in this novel. The characterization and development of the romantic relationship were also five stars. I gave this novel a combined rating of five stars. This novel ends on a Happy Ever After instead of a cliffhanger, so that is a big plus. I recommend this story to everyone who enjoys a good alien sci-fi romance. I thought it was excellent. This may be my favorite story that I have read by this author, simply because she was writing all my favorite tropes and romance elements in this one. I would love to read other romances set in this world by the author. It was super charming. I plan to buy myself a keeper copy of this novel.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
