3 Stars

The writing and editing was a little rough in the ARC version of the manuscript, with enough typos to detract quite a bit from the reading experience. Hopefully those typos will be corrected in the retail version. The world building was okay, if not especially vivid. The characterization was competent, with both hero and heroine being sympathetic individuals. The development of the romantic relationship was organic, with the hero going, "Mine!" and the heroine not so sure about him. That tends to be my favorite relationship arc in a romance. The plot and pacing were quick and exciting, meaning I read this novel in one sitting. There was little angst and high stakes in this story, which tends to be one pf my favorite narrative structures for a romance novel. There was the Fated Mates trope and the Alien Abduction trope in this novel. The editing for this novel was two stars. The world building was three stars. The plot and pacing were three stars. The characterization and development of the romantic relationship were four stars. I gave this novel a combined rating of three stars. This novel ended on a Happy Ever After ending instead of a cliffhanger ending, so that was a big plus. I do not recommend this novel to fans of sci-fi romances until the editing problems have been fixed. There is a good story here under the editing problems, and I would have enjoyed it quite a bit if the flow of the reading experience had not been so disrupted by all the typos. I do not think I will read the next novel in this series, and I do not plan to buy myself a keeper copy of this novel.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
